Breast Surgery Procedures - New York City
Throughout a woman’s life, her breast size and shape can change dramatically. Fortunately, unwanted changes can be reversed surgically for cosmetic or reconstructive or medical reasons. Men can also have breast development, which can be eliminated.
Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammoplasty)
Breast augmentation is an extremely safe and popular procedure for women. It is among the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries. A saline-filled implant is inserted either through the crease under the breast, beneath the nipple, or through the armpit. The implant can be placed under the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle. The size of your implant is carefully determined by you and Dr. Roland prior to surgery. These variations are used to best achieve your desired result based on your anatomy and expectations. After surgery, breasts will appear fuller and more shapely, and incision scars will fade over time.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Over time, the effects of gravity can have an effect on the appearance of a woman's breasts. This combined with pregnancy and nursing will cause the breasts to lose their youthful shape and firmness.
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to elevate and reshape sagging breasts. The procedure can also reduce the size of the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple).

Breast Lift with Breast Implants (Augmentopexy)
Very often either implants or a breast lift alone aren't enough to correct sagging breasts. In this situation implants can be inserted in conjunction with a mastopexy, which dramatically increases breast position, shape, and size.

Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)
Large breasts can burden women with life-long medical problems caused by excessive weight of their breasts. Problems with posture, back and neck pain, skin irritations and breathing problems are common results of this condition. Bra straps often leave grooves in the shoulder area. Many women, especially teenage girls, are very self-conscious if they have unusually large breasts.
Breast reduction (reduction mammoplasty) removes fat, breast tissue, and excessive skin, resulting in smaller, lighter, and firmer breasts. These new breasts are proportionate to the rest of the body. In many circumstances, health insurance may cover the full cost of this procedure.

Breast Reconstruction
After a mastectomy a women has more reconstructive options with today's surgical advances. These reconstructions can be done at the same time as the mastectomy allowing the patient to awake with a breast. Some patients elect to wait months or years before undergoing this type of surgery. In either instance using the newest medical techniques, Dr. Roland is able to create a breast similar in form and appearance to that of the natural breast. In certain circumstances, surgery may be required in stages. Health insurance usually covers all the necessary procedures, including surgery to the opposite breast to create symmetry.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)
Enlarged male breasts is a common condition which is frequently treated. Often, there is no known cause for gynecomastia, although some correlations have been made with various drugs and medical conditions.
The procedure removes fat and/or breast tissue from the breasts, and in some cases, removes excess skin; this results in a contoured male chest that is flatter and firmer. In younger patients health insurance may cover some cost of this procedure.
